World Book Day 2025 Social Media Toolkit
Join in with us on social media on World Book Day to talk about the importance of helping children form a life-long habit of reading for pleasure!

Chapter One is celebrating with World Book Day®️ - the reading for fun charity - on Thursday 6 March 2025 to celebrate the transformative power of reading for pleasure. The theme is Read Your Way and celebrates how everyone's reading journey is unique. Together, we're championing two key messages:
- Every child deserves both the choice and chance to enjoy reading
- There's no single 'right way' to read - every journey is valid

Here are some suggestions on how you can join in:
Share your reading style
Show us how you enjoy reading! Whether it's curled up in a cosy spot, listening to audiobooks on your commute, or reading stories with your Chapter One student - every style is worth celebrating.
**Suggested post 1 - my reading style:**
"As a @Chapter One UK volunteer reader, I'm proud to support @World Book Day Charity's #ReadYourWay campaign. Here's how I make reading my own: [describe your reading style/share a photo]. How do you read your way? #WorldBookDay #ReadingForPleasure"
**Suggested post 2 - my reading style:**
"Every week as a @Chapter One UK volunteer, I help make reading fun by [example: letting my student choose stories they love/reading together regularly/helping them find stories that interest them]. This #WorldBookDay, I'm celebrating how every child's reading journey is unique. What makes reading special for you? #ReadYourWay @World Book Day Charity"
Share your reading journey
Another idea is to share the books or reading material that have shaped your love of reading, showing how different types of reading materials can spark joy:
**Suggested post 3 - my reading journey:**
"Through my role as a @Chapter One UK volunteer, I spend 30 minutes each week reading online with a child, helping build their confidence and love of reading. This #WorldBookDay, I'm sharing my own reading journey to show there's no 'right way' to read.
Here are some books/materials I read that have been important in my life:

Need some inspiration? Here’s a reading journey created by one of the Chapter One team, Rachel Merrall (Programme Manager - London):

Here are some books/materials I read that changed my life:
- Where the Wild Things Are and Goodnight Moon; books I had read to me as a child then read to my own children!
- Smash Hits and Seventeen magazines; reading with friends and putting the posters up in my room!
- Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl books; set me up with a love of stories and adventures!
- Sweet Valley High; Teen years gossiping on the bus to school and trading books to read the whole series!
- The Book Thief, The Time Traveler's Wife, The Eyre Affair; just a few of my favourite adult reads - it was very hard to choose just a few!
