Chapter One is seeking three highly motivated, flexible, proactive Programme Managers to support teachers to implement its unique, online reading volunteer programme in Manchester, Peterborough or East Sussex schools.

The roles are part-time, home-based and term-time only.

Manchester: 10-12 hours per week

Peterborough: 10-12 hours per week

East Sussex: 12-14 hours per week

38% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave English primary schools unable to read to the expected standard, and many children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practise. Chapter One’s mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in ten areas/regions of the UK and will support 3,000 children in 2023-24.

As Programme Manager you will support teachers to implement Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme in a group of schools. You will train teachers and provide them with in-person and email support. You will ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged pupils is maximised throughout the academic year. You will also be responsible for finding new schools to implement the programme as it expands.

You will be an excellent communicator who embraces innovation, enjoys problem-solving and is very comfortable with technology and data analysis. With superb organisational skills, you will have a genuine passion for ensuring all children can read.
